Saturday, September 20, 2008 from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM (ET)
High school teens between the ages of 14 and 18 (Social Studies classes, Y’s, 4-H’s, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Boys and Girls Clubs, El Pueblo youth groups, etc.) are invited to Rally the VOTE - Voices Of Teens Emerging! on September 20 in Raleigh.
Hosted by Girl Scouts – North Carolina Coastal Pines, teens will learn about civic engagement and discover that Democracy is Not a Spectator Sport.
Over 1,000 teens from all across North Carolina will join together for a youth rally. Hear from the 2008 gubernatorial candidates, learn about North Carolina politics, and gear up to encourage others to vote.
The day will begin with a ‘meet and greet’ continental buffet breakfast, continuing with an address by gubernatorial candidates, then finishing up with how teens can help register voters and encourage participation among friends and family. Teens will learn how they can get involved and help – even if they can’t yet vote.
NOTE TO REGISTRANTS: The group/troop leader should serve as the "ticket buyer" (contact person) for her/his entire group and register as one group. Please use the following guidelines for the appropriate number of adults to register with your teens: a minimum of two adults for all groups and for groups over 24 teens, please allow for one additional adult for every additional 12 teens.
